Successful TODs contain a mix of uses, including higher density residential, and are carefully designed to be pedestrian-friendly and specifically oriented to the transit station or stop. TODs accommodate growth more efficiently that low-density subdivisions, while supporting increased use of transit and its associated traffic congestion and air quality benefits.
